The Joint Conference on Mathematics and Computer Science is an international meeting of scientists in the field of mathematics and informatics. The conference was first initiated by the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, and the Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca in 1994. Their topics include all branches of mathematics, computer science, and their applications. It is open to the interests of the potential participants from universities and research institutions.

The 8th Joint Conference on Mathematics and Computer Science (8th MaCS) will be organized at the J. Selye University in Komárno, Slovakia, from July 14 to 17, 2010, under the auspices of János Tóth, the Rector of the J. Selye University.

The organizers of this meeting are the following institutions:

• the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Computer Science of the J. Selye University in Komárno,

• the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca,

• the Faculty of Informatics and the Institute of Mathematics of the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest,

• the Department of Mathematics and Informatics of the Sapientia – Hungarian University of Transylvania,

• the Faculty of Informatics and the Institute of Mathematics of the University of Debrecen,

• the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the University of Pécs,

• the Bolyai Institute (Institute of Mathematics) and the Kalmár László Institute (Institute of Informatics) of the University of Szeged.

Registration:

The deadline for registration is May 31, 2010. Participants should register online, the registration form is to be found on the conference webpage.

Participants applying for an officially confirmed invitation letter (from countries with special visa regime - see Ministry of foreign affairs of the Slovak Republic) are kindly asked to pay an extra fee of 40 EUR. Please contact the conference organizers for further details.

Abstracts:

The deadline for sending your abstract is June 7, 2010. Please download and use the template provided by the conference website. After completing this file, please upload it again using our website. The official language of the meeting is English, please prepare your abstract and your talk in this language. The authors will be notified about acceptance until June 21, 2010.

Payment:

The registration fee is 110 EUR. It covers the costs of the conference materials, coffee and refreshment drinks during the scientific sessions, the lunches (on July 15, 16, and 17, 2010), the Welcome party (on July 15, 2010), the dinner (on July 16, 2010) and the excursion. It does not cover accommodation (please see the next paragraph). The registration fee for accompanying persons is 60 EUR (does not cover conference materials).

Accommodation will be provided at the

• University Hostel Danubius (limited number), in single rooms (15 EUR/person/night), or double and three-bed rooms (10 EUR/person/night), without breakfast,

• University Hostel Čajka-Sirály, in single rooms (15 EUR/person/night), or double and three-bed rooms (10 EUR/person/night), without breakfast.

Reservation is included in the conference registration form, and the price is paid together with the conference fee.

Excursion:

There will be a sightseeing tour in Komárno on July 17, 2010. Participants can visit Europe Square and the fortification system of Komárno. Entrance fees are included in the registration fee.
